Flavours of Vietnam is more than just a restaurant; it embodies the dreams and courage of a family, the sacrifices made over the years, and the support of a community that believes in something truly special.
Mina arrived in Australia in early 2006 with her mother, Kim, driven by the desire to build a better life and create new opportunities. Embracing the challenges of starting anew in a different country, Mina held onto a dream that she was determined to fulfill.
For many years, she juggled multiple jobs, honed her cooking techniques, and saved diligently. Despite long days and difficult moments that made her dream seem distant, her resolve never wavered. Supported by her partner, Peter, and her mother, who stood firmly beside her, that dream ultimately blossomed into reality.
In February 2019, Flavours of Vietnam opened its doors in a modest location on Macalister Street. What started as a humble family restaurant quickly evolved into something much more meaningful, thanks to the support of the Mackay community. This allowed the restaurant to relocate to a larger venue on Nelson Street, expand its team, introduce new offerings rooted in regional flavours, and welcome even more customers.
Every dish served at Flavours of Vietnam carries a piece of Mina’s journey, reflecting Kim’s influence, family traditions, and Peter’s unwavering support, along with the years of hard work and dedication that made it all possible.
Mina and the entire Flavours of Vietnam family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Mackay community for the kindness, loyalty, encouragement, and support shown throughout the years. To every customer who has visited, ordered a meal, celebrated an occasion, recommended the restaurant, left a kind review, or returned time and again—you have helped transform a dream into a lasting reality.
